    CSL Carbon Fiber Twill

I was unable to find anything confirming the CSL CF Twill.

Am I accurate on all CF on the exterior of the car being 1x1? Front splitters, roof, trunk lid, and diffuser?

All CF components in the engine bay are 2x2? CSL box and strut bar?

I’m not sure what the twill is for interior, my guess would be 1x1?

    Thank you for the clarity!

For the visible stuff, 1x1 everywhere except 2x2 for the airbox.

The cf bits that are structural and painted (bumper, seat backs, etc.) are 2x2.

The strut brace is not a csl part. That's an m performance part that you could buy at a dealer. But yes, that too is 2x2.

The front bumper and trunk CFRP which accounts for the weight penalty.

BMW primes them before shipping so we don't know what twill they are using.

is the trunk cf at all? based on the weight I never assumed it was

from the backside of the CSL front bumper you can see that it's 2x2

Sorry I left out "are" in my post. In al the trunks I handled it's impossible to tell unless you sand down the primer. It is carbon fiber reinforced plastic so I imagine it has a plastic sandwich layer.

Despite owning a lot of carbon, I don't know for certain but I would think they prime the trunk before shipping so they wouldn't get complaints of improper prep/paintwork when they get installed.

I've not handled a front bumper so I'm not surprised by that. Nobody is painting the inside of a bumper so it would make sense for them to leave it unprimered.

The bootlid is not CF, but sheet moulding compound (SMC). For those really nerdy CSL fans out there, the airbox manufacturer made a short run of CF bootlids and vented hoods in 1x1 CF.

The die wethje trunk and hood were racecar parts and designed to be as light as possible (i.e. not durable) right? Probably not fit for use on a road car.

Exactly, SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) is not carbon fiber or is a carbon fiber weave underneath. It's a glass-fiber reinforced Duroplast.

You could use them on a road car if you dare, just don't park near a golf course lol

A small technicality but 2x2 is twill weave - 1x1 is known as plain weave.

Does anyone run or have pictures of a Karbonius CSL air box and snorkel in 1x1?

I haven't any but I'm sure there's something out there. I have other stuff in plain but I kept with csl theme with the twill.

I've seen plain valve cover and it didn't look good.
