    Rear Shock Tower Reinforcement for True Coilover?

    Looking to convert to true coilovers in the rear, any insight on rear shock tower reinforcement that is recommended/necessary would be greatly appreciated. (I'm specifically targeting welded in kits, I am not yet ready for a cage which I understand is the ideal solution.)

    Edit: I'm referring to a coilover setup with an upper clevis mount where the spring and shock are no longer separated like the OEM configuration.

    I believe some people use the Z3 reinforcement plates (part # 51718413359). I used the ones from ECS when I refreshed my suspension and installed coilovers at the same time - so far so good.

        You should also add some rear spring perch reinforcement plates. Something like this: https://www.rogueengineering.com/Rog...E46_p_124.html

          Not for a rear coilover. The LCA would be uninvolved.

          OP is not talking about normal coilovers.

          I hesitate to say basic shock reinforcement plates would be sufficient. Us regular guys run reinforcement plates, but I feel like you'd want some further reinforcement beyond that for true rear coilover, and then tie them together (strut bar) and tie them to subframe mount points if possible ala CMP.

              Ah lol completely missed that detail. Yeah those plates wouldn't do anything with a coilover conversion.

              But yeah sounds like much more reinforcement that the typical shock tower plates would be needed for a true coilover setup.

                No need, but i Z3 reinforcement will great. I've them installed also.
