Low end torque isn't great compared to my turbo charged cars. After 4-5k it feels great. Going to the dealer this Tuesday for the airbag recall. Should I have them check it?
There are flaws in the earlier model s54 engines as far as the vanos bolts are concerned. There are updated bolts. Plus other parts within the vanos system that wear and break over time. I had no vanos codes, but the power that my car once had definitely was no longer there. Now I restored some nice power that my butt dyno is happy with.

Got it. I will have that done with the Subframe. Will check out Beisan for the Vanos.

Congrats and welcome. Definitely Beisan for the Vanos work. Share your reinforcement story in the spring.

If you want to keep the car mostly unmodded, slap some headers on and call it a day. That'll help your torque problem. US exhaust really chokes the S54 out. Heck, my power curve improved when I ditched the stock muffler for some resonators.

What direction do you want to take the car? How far do you want to go with mods?

I would like to have the car mostly stock other than the SuperSprint exhaust thats on it already. Also will want to freshen up the suspension with new bushings and little things like that. Nothing crazy. Want it reliable and stock looking.

I would highly suggest the B6 Bilstien with Eibach springs. Check out the Bilstien vs Koni thread but for drivability, those two kits are where it's at for an ok price. The only bushings that are worth doing outside of stock are the subframe bushings. Those should get switch to solid ones when you get the chance but everything else will probably be good stock. The car still running good?

Its so funny you posted this. After now having the car and taking the wheels off to get them refinished I realized it has Eibach springs with Bilstien shocks however don’t think they’re the B6. Not sure how I missed that when looking over the previous owners recipients. Wondering if I should change them to Koni yellow as most on the forums recommend them.

The big difference is B6 will perform a little better and are a more reliable design where Koni's are more comfortable due to the two piston design. The B6s are a little rough over small bumps. They take larger ones quite well. I'm really impressed with how much flatter the ride is. My body roll around corners is almost gone.

Well-bought! Welcome to the club. Seems like you know exactly what's next to make sure you get a lot of good years out of her.
