There are flaws in the earlier model s54 engines as far as the vanos bolts are concerned. There are updated bolts. Plus other parts within the vanos system that wear and break over time. I had no vanos codes, but the power that my car once had definitely was no longer there. Now I restored some nice power that my butt dyno is happy with.

If you want to keep the car mostly unmodded, slap some headers on and call it a day. That'll help your torque problem. US exhaust really chokes the S54 out. Heck, my power curve improved when I ditched the stock muffler for some resonators.
What direction do you want to take the car? How far do you want to go with mods? This is my Unbuild Journal and why we need an oil thread

I would like to have the car mostly stock other than the SuperSprint exhaust thats on it already. Also will want to freshen up the suspension with new bushings and little things like that. Nothing crazy. Want it reliable and stock looking. This is my Unbuild Journal and why we need an oil thread

The only bushings that are worth doing outside of stock are the subframe bushings. Those should get switch to solid ones when you get the chance but everything else will probably be good stock. The car still running good?

Its so funny you posted this. After now having the car and taking the wheels off to get them refinished I realized it has Eibach springs with Bilstien shocks however don’t think they’re the B6. Not sure how I missed that when looking over the previous owners recipients. Wondering if I should change them to Koni yellow as most on the forums recommend them. This is my Unbuild Journal and why we need an oil thread
