The ITBs are a good product, even if quite unnecessary. Good for 5whp if you have every bolt on, from what I remember on m3forum. Better if you have headwork.

It was 5 at the top end, if you have EVERYTHING (took him from 371 to 376 rwhp IIRC), and at the cost of bottom end power.

He took them off and sold them after the dyno, because of the results :P

That's what I remembered because it was so menial for the 3200 (including core deposit) cost. I just don't know where to go up from that number without headwork

Diffs are amazing (3.91/4.10) .. sealed spherical RTABs are great. They just released coil packs, we’ll see how well those do.

Steve Dinan knows his stuff, but his focus was always working for race teams. He also sold the company a while back, and the only part of Steve Dinan left is the name on the door.

His new outfit is CarBahn (https://carbahnautoworks.com).

Overpriced. I prefer stock strut bar bar.

It could very well be. I think B&M made the Porsche factory SSKs for the 996.

Dinan was trash then and it's even more trash now with Steve having been long gone.

It's great for the dude who's scared to mod and wants to brag factory warranty yada yada with his 2hp gains while claiming the insufferable term "oem+".

Interesting replies so far. Maybe I should convert this to a poll (not sure how?). I’ve had my car for a while and modified everything from brakes to suspension to exhaust and wheels. Dinan has never made the short list when making a mod decision, so I was curious where everyone else stands.
                      Just some old shitty cars.

Yep DinanBMW had it at max 6 HP at around @7850-7900 iirc. That’s with all CARB and dealership approved tune/parts.
Be interesting what those would do with CSL intake, cams and custom tune.
I knew the machinist who use to do all their BBTBs.

Nick Piper got 5 hp top end from them, with losses on the bottom end, with CSL intake, cams, full exhaust, custom tune before and after, etc. Took him from 371 to 376 rwhp (sae dynojet), peak, IIRC.

He took them off later, as he decided the losses they caused at the low/middle range weren't worth the top end gain.

OEM+ term has been so overused it's lost all meaning

So do we think intake, cams, exhaust and tune are only good for 5hp at the top with low end losses on this car? Or do we think that anything more aggressive will lose OEM and Dealer approval?

And this may be a silly question, but how did he get from 333hp to 371hp in the first place, and did that 38hp jump also come with losses at the low/midrange?

                              maw

The before/after dyno was with the TBs as the only change (well, and a custom tune for both setups).

... and he went from 27Xrwhp to 376rwhp, not from 333

                                Edit:
Maybe I misunderstood your post. The TBs should be at their best when EVERYTHING else is already done, as that's when any restriction from the factory TBs will be at its greatest.
