I just rebuild my S54 and the amount of helicoils I needed to do on my aluminum cylinder head is frightening. The previous guys who worked on the head clearly couldn't care less about torque spec.

Needless to say, steel inserts are an upgrade compared to the the stock threads. OP should be fine with the install. GOOD LUCK!

Alright, PO had done this at one point in the past (I swear! It wasn't me! 😛) and gotten away with it by using a longer bolt. Well that finally gave out and is causing me an oil leak. Can anyone confirm that 9.4mm is the correct insert length for a timesert as postulated earlier in the thread? https://nam3forum.com/forums/forum/m...518#post193518
