Just need some help please

When i put in the BMW part number 12-13-8-616-153 into realoem, it only shows E46 up to 330?

am i missing something here ?

If the BMW coils are just Delphi in a BMW box, Does anyone have the Delphi part number ?

E46 330 LCIs (MS45 ECU) use the same ignition coil as the S54. In a pinch you can get coil packs from Autozone, just gotta search for a 2004 - 2006 330Ci.

I think over the years the quality has gotten much better so not sure brand matters as much. The original coils were Bremi which were garbage. I had I think 4 go out on my 330Ci under warranty, 4 different trips to the stealer. Then a recall came out and then they replaced all 6.

Where did you get that number from? Not sure why they'd be different really though. I would have said Bosch was factory and even Realoem notes Bosch for one option. Pretty sure mine are Bosch and the original factory units at 105k kms and 21 years old.

S54 E46 M3, MZ3, Z4M note: BMW has changed their preference on S54 ignition coils, now recommending a Delphi brand over this Bosch 12137594937 part number (as of August, 2018). We have used both and feel that one is not any better than the other. If buying a full set you should buy the latest BMW recommendation, Delphi (see link below).

I am on Dinan’s as well. No different to OE, which I replaced as preventative maintenance. Just a bit of color bling

I didnt spend a lot of time, but I could find nothing tangible about these except perhaps they are rebranded coils from the same vendor that supplies BAVAUTO. I would avoid them.

To be specific they aren't rebranded MSD coils (MSD doesnt offer BMW coils). They do come from the same supplier that MSD uses for their coils which is an OEM/OES supplier however. The benefits of being in a large group of aftermarket brands at work -- get to share resources/contacts, etc. =)

As far as the comments about doubting the extra juice and all of that. They definitely test better then all of the OEM variants but at the end of the day the extra output doesnt mean much unless its a highly modified build that will actually utilize it. In reality -- coils are simply a maintenance item that degrade over time. We are simply offering an option that is cheaper than OEM (and the rest of the market last I checked), with some color options and that also offer a bit more output (even if it doesnt mean much) so when you need to replace them due to misfires and the like you might as well just choose Dinan.

I'm running the Dinan coils in both my cars and haven't had any issues yet.

What are people's thoughts on NGK coils?

I ran them (NGK49010) in my 02 M3 along with NGK iridium (DCPR8EIX), no problem so far since this feburary, nearly 3,000km

Delphis are what are currently recommended, bosch is probably ok too.

Eldors are the new gold standard. All high HP turbo motors in BMW’s lineup run them. There are quite a few independent reviews of their build quality - they’re the best right now from an OE standpoint.

Does the N/A S54 need them? Probably not. But if you want the best, they’re it right now.

I ordered six Eldor coils from FCP, and they only sent one (in a very plain white box). They shipped the other five without any hassle, but they sent boxes marked as BBT.
Before I contact FCP, are the BBT coils the same as Eldor? Thanks

From FCP website:

Note: Eldor coils do not come in Eldor branded packaging as Eldor does not have an aftermarket sales division. This coil will come in a white box or box with BBT Technologies branded on it. The part number on top of the coil in both cases will read "R3516S00100" with a production date/time stamp underneath.

I'm going with the Eldor "273's" as well from FCP just because I like my spare parts and after reading reviews those also seemed like a great choice. I have no doubt the Delphi's or even Bosch coils would have been fine as well though.

Now I just need a spare motor or spare car, my OCD runs deep.

I run the FCP Eldor coils on my turbo S54 car with 9 series NGK plugs (1 step colder) and have 0 issues with spark, hesitation etc...

eldor was cheap and OEM replacement and lifetime warranty on FCP. win win
