These are the best coils for E46 cars. Unfortunately the M3 can't use them. They were used on early cars.

It will fit. The same part was used across a lot of different platforms beginning 2003. LCI E46 330s changes to this coil.Originally posted by BlueBimmers View PostWaking up - FCP sells that Eldor part number coil, but does not show it as fitting the S54: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...657273#fitment

Found the Jelly Bean Coils on mine, Wish i payed more attention the last 5 times i had them out comp testing and doing the head gasket
Found a old 260 coil from 2007 with E46 on it (must of been from a junk yard )
Some Bosch 08s
A Bosch 2015
A Bosch 2019
Seeing this is some serious motivation to swap them outLast edited by BL92; 07-27-2025, 12:33 AM.

E46 330 LCIs (MS45 ECU) use the same ignition coil as the S54. In a pinch you can get coil packs from Autozone, just gotta search for a 2004 - 2006 330Ci.Originally posted by BL92 View PostSome mixed reviews on this subject
Just need some help please
When i put in the BMW part number 12-13-8-616-153 into realoem, it only shows E46 up to 330?
am i missing something here ?
If the BMW coils are just Delphi in a BMW box, Does anyone have the Delphi part number ?
Many thanks
I think over the years the quality has gotten much better so not sure brand matters as much. The original coils were Bremi which were garbage. I had I think 4 go out on my 330Ci under warranty, 4 different trips to the stealer. Then a recall came out and then they replaced all 6.Last edited by bigjae46; 07-21-2025, 05:16 AM.

Where did you get that number from? Not sure why they'd be different really though. I would have said Bosch was factory and even Realoem notes Bosch for one option. Pretty sure mine are Bosch and the original factory units at 105k kms and 21 years old.Originally posted by BL92 View PostWhen i put in the BMW part number 12-13-8-616-153 into realoem, it only shows E46 up to 330?

If the BMW coils are just Delphi in a BMW box, Does anyone have the Delphi part number ?
12131712219 seems to be Eldor
12137594937 Bosch
Bimmer world have a note:
S54 E46 M3, MZ3, Z4M note: BMW has changed their preference on S54 ignition coils, now recommending a Delphi brand over this Bosch 12137594937 part number (as of August, 2018). We have used both and feel that one is not any better than the other. If buying a full set you should buy the latest BMW recommendation, Delphi (see link below).Last edited by Shonky; 07-21-2025, 02:48 AM.
