Best Springs to Pair with OEM Shocks/Struts?

    Hey all.

I’m thinking about reverting to OEM shocks/struts. My car doesn’t see track use (Will be selling Koni Yellows as a result if anyone is interested).

However, I’d still like to have the car a bit lower vs. stock without sacrificing comfort. My two options are Dinan or Eibach.

Any thoughts on which of those would pair better with stock shocks/struts?

    Thanks

The Koni yellows are a stock-like replacement damper, not a track setup. I wouldn’t bother changing them out for OEM at all on a street car. Haven’t personally used them on this chassis but I just got them in my E39 M5 and they’re a whole lot like the Sachs OEM dampers they replaced but well under half the price for new ones and supposedly last much longer.

Springs are springs — choose based on lengths and rates, and linear or progressive. Stay near OEM rates since that’s what Koni (and stock) are matched to, or a bit higher if you prefer.

Understood they’re (Konis) are for track… I just want to minimize/reduce feeling bumps/road wear as much as possible.

The car has a ton of aftermarket parts but figure I’d start here to see how comfort increases.

If you are looking to increase comfort on a modified car you are better off replacing any possible solid/poly bushes with OE rubber.

Replacing a stock-replacement shock will likely do absolutely nothing in regard to comfort (except for if the Koni's have been on there for 60.000 miles or more).

If you lower the car with stock or Koni's, you are giving up bump travel and ride will suffer as soon as you hit a noticeable bump other than the typical road "roughness".

Konis with stock springs are probably your best bet for ride quality...

I would replace the suspension bushings and go to 17's or 18's if you haven't already, that will smooth out the ride more.

I’m running Koni yellows with stock springs - can vouch for them.

How do you feel about your stance?

                following.

I'm in the same boat - sort of. Bought mine 4 years ago, came with KW V3s and has a real nice stance (not stupid low but definitely lower than stock). Car is unfortunately a garage queen and never sees the track. All struts are leaking. Giving serious thought to going back to OEM but love the lowered look. Have never driven one with OEM suspension, I'm assuming the ride is much more comfortable than the track focused current setup of the V3s.

Highly recommend reviewing the Flat Ride thread. There's set up recommendations for flat ride on the cheaper side.

Stock springs, Konis, and 17s if you're optimizing for comfort.

The stock shocks ride worse than the Konis (set reasonably), and any lowering spring results in decreased bump travel.

Do they? Stocks sachs, billy b4s & koni all twin tube. I wonder how much difference there really is between them all.

If you pair them with stock mounts...
