Is coding needed after HJS cat install?

When I switched from Fabspeed+Euro cats to SS V1 headers and catted section 1, I started to get a random yellow CEL come on. I’ve reset adaptations via the Swaben tool, sometimes i can drive 300-400kms before the light comes on again, sometimes it comes on within 20kms.

The codes are F4, B2 & B3, so it’s exhaust temp, and post cat o2 sensors.

I believe I can use Martin’s tool to turn off those sensors but I wanted to know what everyone else is doing. I prefer to keep sensors working as intended. Are these codes common?

    TIA

Can't know exactly what's going on for you, but simply swapping one set of catless headers and catted sect 1 with another wouldn't cause any issues, no.

When I put my SSV1s and HJS cats on, I started getting cat efficiency codes. I didn't bother swapping the post cat O2s because they don't really play a role besides triggering the codes.

Instead, I modified the thresholds so that the DME wouldn't trigger the codes as easily. More info: https://nam3forum.com/forums/forum/s...ncy-thresholds

      I set mine to this:
      K_LANK_USF: 600 mV
      K_LANK_USM: 300 mV

Good to know that’s working for you. I just turned mine down to right around your values because the extra 0.05V I gave it initially wasn’t enough to stop the light on longer highway drives.

Same. Tried with what you suggested first and the light wouldn't come on around town, but would come on after 30ish mins on the highway. Seems to be working well now

Strange that chill highway driving getting 27 mpg is what triggers it and flogging it at the track doesn’t … maybe these need some heat to work well or something.

OP you should disable EGT based enrichment with these cats as well. Martyn’s tool makes it easy but a free hex editor or tunerpro will do the job too. I personally haven’t gotten the F4 code even though I left EGT monitoring on (just without the enrichment routine)

I passed ca smog (cleared monitors) with ssv1 + hjs sect 1 with stock tune flashed back on, no codes or any tuning done.

Not sure why you guys are having codes.

Old (original to the car) sensors is my guess for my car. Was easier and cheaper to mess with the software than to replace them

CSL map + tune is less emissions friendly. I had no light with the stock tune either. Added the airbox and CSL map and the light comes on. Power and highway MPG both improved (~10% each) but it doesn’t like the post cat O2 readings.

Thanks guys, my sensors are all original so i may try turning them down and see if that fixes it before i replace anything.

I’ve had my SSV1 with SS catted section 1 installed for about 6 months with no codes from the start.

Interesting. I swap my stock intake and DME in for smog, so next time my car needs to go in, I'll mess around with trying to trigger the light.

This was an interesting video to me — wanted to find some real data to back up my assumption and he provides it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UvytHh9dI-s

So not sure if it’s the base CSL or just PCS who doesn’t care about emissions (at least compared to BMWNA), or a combination of both lol.
