yesh, i plan to have a pro do the work.
i need to clean it up as there is oil on the underbelly. i suppose the pinion spun it around the area. i don't have any ramps or i would go to a car wash bay and put the rear wheels up and spray it down. how effective will it be if i simply lay down on the deck and attempt to powerwash the area? i can degrease then use soap. diff oil drys thick.Last edited by M3 Driver; 08-24-2020, 11:13 AM.

I ordered a new seal from FCP euro and it actually came with two of them in the BMW packaging. BMW knows how shitty these are so they're throwing in extras now lol?

today i need to decide whether to reseal the entire case (input/output/cover) or simply the present problem which is the input seal. i do't have a price for the larger job just yet. it is a 2005 with 80K miles and the diff has the factory seals and bushings..Last edited by M3 Driver; 08-25-2020, 08:19 AM.

It can all be done in the car but at the point you're disconnecting everything to do it all in the car I'd just do the three extra bolts to drop the diff. A lot easier to do the seals out of the car.
I've only done the input seal in the car while in the car, it's a lot of stuff to get out of the way. I've heard you can just bend the heat shield and push the exhaust and driveshaft out of the way. If my quick jacks ever get here I'll do my input in the car this time, and I'll try to take the shortcuts and report back lol.

Might be a shorter shortcut than trying to do the seal with the diff in the car. I dropped it once like this before when I was feeling lazy and it went pretty fast.2002 Topasblau M3 - Coupe - 6MT - Karbonius CSL Airbox - MSS54HP Conversion - Kassel MAP - SSV1 - HJS - PCS Tune - Beisan - MK60 Swap - ZCP Rack - Nogaros - AutoSolutions - 996 Brembos - Slon - CMP - VinceBar - Koni - Eibach - BlueBus - Journal
