What to do before a year long storage

leaving the hood open is an interesting idea…but there is simply no light and it will be very dark no matter what… is this gonna give easier access?

For what it's worth, I have a car that has been in storage for basically 5 years. It's in a 1 car garage that 99% of the time doesn't have lights on. Leaving the hood open has meant the difference of having mice in the engine bay and not. Regarding if it's easier for them to get to the car with the hood open, they access the car from the bottom and climb up, not by parachuting in from the top
