Just in case no one was tracking the Bimmerworld box is built by the same guy who made all the CF parts for PTG.

On here idk. But the former PTG guys name is Randy and he makes his on prepreg resin. I'm running his CF roof and can attest that it's probably the stiffer than what Karb or Haimus are making.

Did folks go with the premium or premium+ gloss finish?

I emailed to ask as it wasnt clear but what is included in the Haimus package? The OEM parts too or just the intake?

Also newb question - why cant I post in the WTB parts section?
Haimus includes the CSL airbox and optional snorkel only. I put a list together here.

Haimus is about to release a new "Shadow" trim level, essentially all CNC'ed parts will be gloss black. They've also improved their mold to have easier OEM filter fitment.

I can help you towards a box directly with Haimus here.

My 07MAR23 build Karbonius Race airbox. I’ll reach out to ECS on Monday to see if I can exchange it. If they give me issues, I’ll just reach out to Karbonius.

Yes, the pins underneath are lined up correctly. Also, don’t these intakes come with an M Power decal? It appears that someone opened up the box and the envelope to remove the decal.

Are you pointing out the alignment between the two pieces?

Yes, it typically comes with the warranty information and a decal.

Yup, the last tab doesn’t line up. And sucks that someone took the decal out wtf.

It is trimmed by hand and sometimes they need a final adjustment that they might miss in QC. I have seen two others that needed a bit of a trim. Not ideal as anything dealing with trimming CF requires PPE.

They should be able to send you another one.

Heard back from Karb. Kinda bullshit tbh. I’ll take more photos of the intake in a bit.

I have shown my colleages and they said these clearances are within normal tolerances and do not affect the performance of the airbox
Even the original CSL airbox bmw has similar clearance. The two parts do not need to be hermetic, the important thing is that the part of the filter does not have leaks

Anyway, and that said, if you are not 100% satisfied with piece, you can of course send us back and we will refund you money paid (except for shipping costs)
Just let me know and I'll tell you what to do

It does not look too bad to me. Look normal tbh. I understand your frustration as these things should literally be perfect for the amount they command.

my OE style Karb had flushness issues, I was worried as that variant does need to be air tight, but despite the fit concerns it is air tight and is not causing any issues and once install only you will know is there.

Have to put some force on the tab to get the holes to line up. Im just worried that it’ll crack if I use it like this.

The Karb airbox used to not have this and they would whistle at part throttle under 3K rpm. The solution was to use a dremel and give it a smooth radius for the air to enter the port.

Check out my recent journal entry where I had to enlarge one of the holes. Not a big deal imo. Use a rat tail.

I’ll do that if Karb confirms that warranty won’t be voided. Can’t use a drill bit and step up in size until there’s enough clearance to thread screw on?

Edit: Did you use a hand rat tail file to elongate the hole, or did you use the drill attachment to open it up evenly?
