When removing Caliper, what should be used to cap the line
Vacuum cap that fits tightly. I wedge a short 2x4 between the seat and the brake pedal to keep the brake pedal ever so slightly depressed. No drips, but I still use a vacuum cap.
Yes it’s super practical when you want to swap brakes from one car to another or if you want to paint your calipers as a winter project or send them to powdercoat.
Just need old brake lines or the cheapest one at local auto parts!

If you are replacing the rubber line, pinch it somewhere towards the body connection. Then cut the line in half (between the pinch and caliper) and screw a 5/16" sheet metal screw into the body side opening. Once you replace the line keep this old piece to screw on if you aren't replacing the lines in the future.
*edit, this will be secure enough that the car can be moved and still have some brake pressure. There are more than 1 cars kicking around my shop that have a pair of calipers removed but still functioning brake pedal.
