S54 Dyno Database

My Z4 M coupe has been running Epic software from day 1 but I only recently managed to find time for a custom tune. I never did a stock baseline but I know a healthy Z4 M generally dynos around ~275whp (SAE) on a Dynojet. But for purposes of this exercise, I’ll use my header tune as my baseline, which means total pickup of +40whp from airbox, x-pipe, pulleys, and flywheel. Note dyno runs were performed at same facility with ambient temps being quite similar (spring 2024 vs fall 2025).

Lastly, I recognize a more controlled framework would've entailed starting with a baseline header + custom tune but frankly, I wasn't going to pay up for an academic exercise. Ultimately, this answered the most burning questions for me while still having good relative comparison points.


Header Tune (OTS)

• Euro headers
• 100 cell hfc
• Peak 298whp / 237lb-ft

Alpha N (OTS)

Same as above plus following additions:

• TMS CSL v2
• TMS pulley
• Supersprint X-pipe
• TTV Racing flywheel
• Peak 318whp / 241lb-ft

Alpha N (Custom)

• No change to above other than tuning
• Note there were quite few runs and iterations of the tune but this was the "final" version
• Peak 337whp / 256lb-ft

Whats the muffler setup and what diameter choke did you go with on the merge to 3.5"?

Yup.

Impressive power - are those stock camshafts?

Yes, stock, nearly 100k miles on engine and only been open for rod bearings, vanos, and valve adjustments.

I run detuned to 295HP for GTS3 but this is my max power tune.
2003, 97k miles, A LOT of track hours/miles.

Suggested he cant get enough fuel to it to push further....at this point it is lines or fuel pump I assume, everything else has been changed or cleaned. Not that I need more for my class.

Do you have AFR installed? Have you measured it on max tune map?

Just exhaust sniffer while tuning. I think I can view the data in winpep. Epic tune, not concerned.

Nothing crazy
125k mile S54, no valve adjustment done to my knowledge.

HTE "canned" Tune

BW Street/Track Exhaust 3.5"
BW Silicon Elbow

It has the stock airbox.
Original MAF, probably original 02s. Happy with how it's doin.
