    Use SOLID German tools:

    - Wera
    - Stahlwille
    - Gedore
    - Hazet

I have all of these tools in by chest, and I use Wera and Gedore Torque wrenches which are phenomenal. Best prices are on Amazon.de or Amazon.uk.co
I have always used Schwaben, German car, German torque wrench. Works great btw.

I could be wrong but I was under the impression Schwaben was a Chinese manufactured tool.

Schwaben is the house brand for ECS tuning/Pelican Parts/Turner Motorsport. Its all marketing. They go and slap their logo on someone else's product with minor tweaks and sell it. Mostly made in China or Taiwan. Not saying they aren't quality but definitely not made or designed in Germany. I have their scantool and love it, but its just a Foxwell NT510 with a Schwaben logo on it.

I have their aluminum jackstands, great quality but they are re-branded Sunex/Torin.

Quick search didn't yield any resources for where to get Schwaben torque wrenches re-calibrated so if it were me I would pick a different brand.

I stand corrected, should have done my research.

4-40Nm isn't really enough for rod bearings. Initial torque stages would be OK. But once you're doing the final angles you'll be way over ranging it. ARP say 50 ft lb without a stretch guage.

I have 5 (CDI and Precision Instruments) ranging from 30 in lbs to 350ft lbs to cover everything. I do a lot of fastening at 6lbs so the inch wrench is used a lot. I pick the wrench where the torque that I need is not at either end of its specs just to be safe.

Remember, this is a $1500 or so torque wrench. It's not a run-of-the-mill Snap on.

4 measuring modes (torque, angle, torque backed up by angle, angle backed up by torque)
Yes I understand the concept. At 105 deg of angle what torque is being applied? Way over the 40Nm maximum torque of device.

it will still give you the angle function but you wont know what torque it took which can be useful.

Applying torque way over the max range is a good way to ruin a perfectly good torque wrench.

Also, remember what the OE tool BMW sells for angle measurements, a basic dial indicator and it's what's specified in the TIS. Knowing the final torque after angle is obviously is not an important figure, otherwise BMW would state a meaningful range in the TIS.

                              From the manual:

“Never exceed the maximal limit torque of 125% of the nominal value”
