What race pad would recommend for this purpose?

Could I sand the rotor myself somehow?

I’ve used Zimmerman. Good experiences thus far with OE BMW pads and PFC race + street pads.

I believe stop tech (regular) rotors are made by centric these days, so I’m not sure they’re worth the premium over centric. Unless, of course, you want drilled or slotted and are willing to pay for it. I’ve also used centric blanks a decade ago when I was regularly tracking. Their high carbon rotor seemed as good as any other ‘blank’ back then, including Brembo. I don’t know how they are these days…

Raybestos ST43 worked perfectly to clean a set of discs that had pad imprints from Stoptech Sport pads. As mentioned above, Hawk Blue is what Hawk recommends for cleaning pad deposits.

Slotting in a set of old race pads takes a few minutes with 4 pot caliper. Sanding would take a lot more effort and might not be as uniform.

Anyone have a used set of race pads I could buy?

If you get the brakes hot enough the deposits will come off even without track pads. I would recommend finding a back road and get the brakes nice and hot doing some threshold braking back to back. If you can't smell the brakes they aren't hot enough.

This same issue used to happen all the time to an old g35 we used to have, the aggressive bedding in fixed it every time.

I'm about to replace rear rotors, ZCP. Prices are high. FCP has Zimmerman marked as aftermarket. Thoughts on the difference bwt them and BMW branded? Going with Hawk HPS pads. TIA.

On my non-ZCP, I did all OE BMW and upgraded the front pads to ZCP part, very happy for my street driving.

Just don't go on a track with HPS pads.
