I did an interior swap and had to remove the steering wheel and air bag. When I tried to put it back in - I couldn’t put it back properly no matter how hard I pushed. It clicked into one side and the other side never sat in properly. In removing it - I damaged the metal mechanism that holds the airbag into place. I just purchased a new wheel and tried it again and the airbag had the same issue with not clicking properly. I managed to remove the airbag without damaging anything but need tips / advice as to how put it back properly. It looks really easy and I just put it straight in and push on both sides but that hasn’t worked for me

Yeah when I did mine I don't remember it being that hard. Snapped in real easy. Here are some pictures of mine to at least compare something to when I had pulled it for some trim work. Also, what about the metal spring things inside the wheel? How do those look? I attached a picture so you can see mine, which didn't give me any issues. Perhaps one of those metal springy things is amiss? Wires getting the way a possibility too I guess.

I've had it where sometimes the airbag goes right in and others I've had to stick a screwdriver as if I were removing it to get it so slip in. Seems like sometimes the retaining mechanism binds a bit and it just needs bit of help to retract.2002 Topasblau M3 - Coupe - 6MT - Karbonius CSL Airbox - MSS54HP Conversion - Kassel MAP - SSV1 - HJS - PCS Tune - Beisan - MK60 Swap - ZCP Rack - Nogaros - AutoSolutions - 996 Brembos - Slon - CMP - VinceBar - Koni - Eibach - BlueBus - Journal
