Redline doesn't recommend an ATF for a manual transmission because they were dropped on their heads as children, they do it because they believe the specs warrant the recommendation... whether that's accurate seems to be up for contention around here, but it has nothing to do with the product name on the label as the post I quoted was implying.

I was implying the product label matters? Wtf

and your analogy doesn't work my ps system was made to be used with atf unlike the getrag so I'll stick with spec. You wanna go off spec just based on what the company says or did you look at voas and uoas?

My friend has it in his, but drives very little so hard to give feedback. Seems fine. Damage to synchros wouldn't show up for a while if it didn't have gl4 spec additive protection. Viscosity spec is close, so it should "feel" fine right away.

Wait you just said RP is pure crap so why are you gonna try another non-spec fluid?

Is there something really wrong with spending $35-40 on pentosin or ravenol gl4 75w80 spec fluid?

Yeah this is something I really don't understand. People are willing to spend $150 on proper spec diff fluid but not trans? It's not like you're changing this every 3-5k miles like your engine oil, just get the right fluid ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've had great results using ravenol for trans flud. Same goes for engine oil, I am a big fan of ravenol at this point.

I've tried all sorts of options, and I'd say that's your best bet.

Hate to bump this but... didn't see any mention of this Febi fluid: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/min...id-83220403247

Did it not get mentioned because it's already known to be crap? Anyone tried it?

I haven't tried the febi because its GL-5, instead of GL-4. I'd like to know also if anyone's tried it.

Been using Ravenol 75W-80 (my shop gets all Ravenol stuff) the past few flushes.. no issues here.

Hypothetically, If someone was trying to learn how to heel to toe, and grinded their gears missing a shift, does the transmission fluid need to be changed?
