      100% this.

VAC parts if engine failure is the goal.

$4200 for 6hp. Let that sink in.

They used to be significantly cheaper.

Also, on a forced induction build they should shine more. I probably wouldn't spend the money on a NA car.

... and only at the top end-- deceased power at the bottom end

Wasn't there a service that would bore throttle bodies? Then you'd just need to get the butterflies made. I think they are brass? Shouldn't be too hard for any machine shop to tackle.

Well $2950 is core fee which is returned if you send your core in... I am sure you could buy a used stock set cheaper than that and send in if you wanted to have both sets and get it cheaper than $4200... otherwise it looks like its $1250 in labor and parts to convert, so most of the price is in the stock part as a starting point... but I fully agree with your sentiment.

Gees, that core fee is crazy. I guess it's about a third as ridiculous now.

$1,799.95 - why are the reviews on these so bad?

VAC has a long history of making stuff that clearly doesn't work or isn't reliable.

Porting the throttle bodies is a valid way of making more power, regardless of the vehicle. The more air you can get in and out, the more power you'll make. So, in that line of thought, doing the throttle bodies is definitely worth it.

VAC probably can probably port a throttle body fine, but they are known for putting out shoddy quality products, so they aren't highly trusted on this forum.

If the only reason you're considering VAC is price, then you 100% should not be doing an all-motor build. That is not the place to be frugal.
