Electric Fan Conversion - Spal's 30102803HO most powerful sealed fan

Has anyone ever fitted the Spal 30102803HO fan? It's the most powerful sealed motor fan that Spal produces and is rated at 45A (compared to 24A for the 2082 fan).

I know others have used 2082 successfully and there was a long thread about it on the old forum. For those who are running that fan, how much room did you still have left between the motor and the engine?

The 2803HO is 0.67" thicker at the motor only, the rest of the dimensions are quite similar, so I'm wondering it fits.

On the 2082 fan there about 10-12mm which is .47 inch distance from the ac belts so it’s going to be very close, the motor itself has a cone shape and that distance is measuring closer to outer edge of the motor it all depends hard to predict. I was the one who actually created that thread on m3forum and did first test fit 2082, you might have to take a gamble and just buy one if it does not fit buy from a source that accepts returns if it doesn’t That’s what I did when trying 2082 fan first time thankfully it worked so no returnees needed

I think a lot of us are running the Spal curved 2049 fan. Would be good to get a DIY back up for this install.

If you already running 2049 and using N15 design brackets. It's a simple swap of the 2082 fan onto the brackets that it, nothing else is different fan has same mounting points.

I'm running the Spal 2082 and the N15 fan brackets with no issues.

Could you please take a few shots from different angles to see how the fan is positioned against the ac belt, pullies, etc?

Is the fan positioned to the far right?

            Thanks

Here is the Spal 2082 with N15 mounts. I mounted mine as far to the drivers side as possible to help cool the SMG pump. I had to drill two new holes on one mount so move the fan away from the water pump shaft. I ran this setup on my DD in 100-120 desert heat with NO issues.

                Thanks, that helps a lot.
There's definitely more room on the driver side vs the passenger side where the ac pulleys and belt are closer to the fan.

Is there a reason you recommend to switch from 2049 to 2082? Is the 2082 considered better?

2082 has higher amps = watts = much stronger than, better cooling capabilities than 2049

What relay would you use for this? Are you guys just using a separate circuit with a mechanical temp sensor or using the aux fan circuit?

You can wire it to the Aux fan control if you remove the Aux fan otherwise you will need a separate fan control. I use a PWM unit which operates similar to the Aux fan control, variable speed.

Any details on wiring this in? I think we lost this in old m3 forum

The PWM unit I posted above?
