Vector Image/High Res reproduction of original E46 nav boot/splash screen

So for my own purposes I wanted a high resolution copy of the original BMW boot screen used on E46 nav units. I couldn't find one so I made my own. Initially I thought it was pretty unlikely it would be useful for anyone else, so just put an update in my journal thread, but I had a lot of time for thinking while I sanded plaster today and I realised it may in fact be of some interest to someone, so thought I'd create it's own topic.

    Ha, downloaded.

Funny that when I had stock nav I felt compelled to replace the boot screen with something not stock, but with the aftermarket head unit I feel compelled to replace the boot screen with something that looks stock.

Very cool, I hope my older AVIN unit allows a change in backsplash, will most definitely use this.

Finding the correct instructions for getting the BMW logo on the XTRONS unit was a bit annoying, so posting it here for anyone that needs it.

Create a file on a USB drive (FAT32) and name it CAR_LOGO. Put the logos inside the file, the size of your device. Make sure the logos start with "android_", for example, android_xxx.png. On the XTRONS, go to factory settings (code 0000) and then to logo settings. In the next tab, you'll see "ext". Press and hold the BMW boot logo.

Changing the boot animation ("powered by Android") does not seem to be as easy.

Attached the boot logo karter16 created that fits the XTRONS screen.

Thanks for attaching the file for the right aspect ratio for the xtrons! Curious about the boot screen animation. do you see this during normal day-to-day use? or only when you do a hard reset/the car battery has been disconnected. I only see it once in a blue moon so haven't spent the time to figure out replacing the animation.

Let me check to see if it shows up on cold boot tomorrow. If you go back to the car after a few minutes, it skips the boot logo and goes straight to the Android menu. It always shows up after you hit restart in the Android dropdown menu.

Here is what I found on changing the boot animation - https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...9#post26163719

I have my car set up to power down the xtrons after about 30 minutes of disuse (5 lb battery), so I see the animation pretty routinely.

side question- have you been able to figure out how to get the button backlights to proportionally dim with the wheel on the xtrons?

Don’t think that’s going to happen.

… I also don’t think I’ve touched that dial in 20 years. Got the brightness where I wanted it and haven’t touched it since.

yeah agreed - I'm pretty sure the Xtrons just takes the day/night lighting mode as a digital on/off signal and shows full brightness/dimmed accordingly.

Also yeah, I never touch that dial so just configured the dim mode on the Xtrons to match the rest of the dash.

To get the BMW boot logo to show every time (like the factory nav) after the XTRONS comes out of sleep mode, you have to select "Exit Sleep Show Boot LOGO" in the Factory Settings.

Unfortunately, I cannot find a setting to completely power off the unit after 20 minutes or so. It always goes into sleep mode. Leave the car for two days and it boots straight to the main menu.

Edit: I was able to find a setting that seems to completely shut off the head unit after a certain amount of time, at least it did a cold boot after I enabled the setting. Under Factory Settings and UI Settings, there is an option called "Delay shutdown time after hibernation." After enabling this setting, close Factory Settings and allow the system to restart. After restart, go to the Base Setting under the General menu and there will be a new option for "Delay shutdown time after hibernation." There are four choices - Close, 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours.

I think I figured out why you are not seeing the boot animation during normal day-to-day use. The head unit is always going into hibernation mode and never completely shutting off. The fast boot is a nice feature, but I think it would be good to have the unit completely shut off after a certain point as to not drain the battery. I read that the power draw is very little, so it might not matter much especially if the car is hooked up to a battery tender.

In the post above, there is a setting that seems to completely shut down the head unit. If this setting is set to 1 hour, you will get a cold boot (boot time ~25 sec) with boot logo and boot animation after an hour. Before an hour has passed, you will only get the boot logo and fast boot (~2 sec), that is if the "Exit Sleep Show Boot LOGO" is enabled; otherwise, it skips the boot logo.

In regards to the boot animation, you mentioned in your build thread ( post ) why it is more involved to change the boot animation.
