Oil pump replacement/ rebuild consensus

I couldn't get my oil pump out, the centre nut would just rotate with the engine, ( CounterClockwise )The muppets at the dealership must of loctite the nut on, so i just carried on with RBs with the oil pump still in

I removed the cap on 1, pushed the piston up, rotated the engine to move the crank out of the way then pulled the piston down to get the top bearing off / on.

how did you do number 1 ?

In the end, I'm pretty sure did what you did. Was a little scared of scratching the crank, moving the crank freely of the piston, but I was careful.

It sounds like you were turning the nut the wrong way. It's reverse-thread (righty-loosey). You could just put the car in gear or use the crank pulley immobilizing pin to lock the engine.

100% was turning it clockwise, i made error in my last post

I follwed TIS and wire tied the chain
I watched a video tutorial as well, to triple check i was turning it the right way and it looked like, if i continued, i was going to break the lower timing chain guide
