Which vendor? IIRC if you're using camber plates and not OE top hats, you need the strut spacers (https://3dmmotorsport.com/collection...rut-spacer-kit) and I don't think every vendor includes these, at least they didn't initially. In general it seems 3DM is a great shop to do Ohlins stuff with for this platform.

I honestly tend to lean towards a coilover setup that uses either bilstein or koni damper. h&r street or even the rss are good options if you want to set it and forget it for less then $1500 and you can still have a good time at the track. If you have big bucks then get something that can be easily rebuilt like ast or jrz

OMG . . . This topic is so timely, but I feel like an idiot chiming in.
I need to replace all my struts, and have fallen into this rabbit hole of information : flat ride, spring rates, coil overs, TCK . . . OH MY.

I have recommendations for konis w/ eibach pro ( easy peasy package ), it looks like those TCK rear Konis are a worth while upgrade, but they package everything with H&R springs.

I am seeing lots of love for the Dinan springs here too.

Sorry, I am not contributing anything, just diarrhea of my thoughts.

Is there a good performance shop near you? They can make things real simple. :]

I think that‘s a healthy response. Many people just slap a set on for ride height look and downgrade their car in the process.

Down grade is my least favorite choice.

I will for sure opt for OEM if even the hint of compromised performance, but I am leaning into your advice on the Koni / Dinan suggestion.

                    Thanks Obioban!

I mean if you’re happy with how your car looks and rides, is it really considered a downgrade? Not everyone lives on the track 24/7 and some simply want their car to look nice.

Just another perspective since people sometimes get caught up in “what’s best” to the point that they don’t even enjoy their cars anymore.

I’d say tracking has nothing to do with it— if you don’t care about handling, the m3 is a weird choice of cars. I have zero intention of ever tracking my M3 wagon or M5, but I certainly still value them handling properly.

Love the second line. So true.

Having a well set-up suspension isn't a track thing. It counts every second you're behind the wheel. The only reason to not care about things like flat ride, damping quality, etc. is if your car is literally never in motion. If you have any desire for your car to ride and drive well, and want to minimize the odds that a freak combo of lateral G and road irregularities will make the car do something scary, your suspension has to not suck.

My car handles great. Don’t you think you’re being a bit over dramatic when it comes to this? You’re acting like anyone who hasn’t selected your exact mods has somehow ruined their car and that just isn’t true. Any mod is a compromise, just depends on what you’re willing to give up to get what you’re after.

If you're happy with your car, that's great. That said, I'm just calling a spade a spade-- people should know what compromise they're making when they buy parts. If they want to trade off some handling to make it look "better" (subjective), that's their choice. But, for that to actually be a choice, the options out there need to be presented realistically.

I have BC on my car and really cant complain for the price.. I will say at high speed you need to be very careful of bumps. I enjoy the ride height adjustability, and had to drive around quite a bit pulling over adjusting my dampeners to get to a point where the ride was not bouncy (whatever they came set on was terrible).. I plan to invest in a more high dollar set eventually.
