Corrugated Tube Deteriorated and tube holder clip snapped

Hello,

The corrugated tube that i have seen on other S54's was missing on my car. (what exactly are these wires controlling)



I found 2 corrugated tube sizes on Real OEM, not really specific to this location so i bought the smallest size (8.5)

I'm not sure if it was the correctly way to fix the missing tube issue, but I didn't like the exposed wires.
I trimmed the tube to size and when I tried to use the existing tube holder it snapped its probably due to age and it didnt take that much force to break it.
I cant seem to find the holder clip on real oem to find the part number. I used zip tie for now.
Anyone know if i used the correct tube, and where i can find a replacement clip.

I picked up a 2004 M3 coupe last week and these wires were so brittle that they disintegrated on touch. Now it's time to replace!

i used the same tubing to replace that portion of wiring loom on my car as well (btw that section of the harness connects to the vanos solenoid.) pretty common for the original tubing to fall apart at this age.

I bought a spool of that stuff on amazon for like $5 when a rat chewed through a wire on my engine bay. You can get different sizes cheap.

To join it, I used a piece of adhesive lined heat shrink tubing

I don't remember where I got it - they are all pretty similar, you can find it on amazon, mcmaster, prowireusa, etc.

As mentioned, those wires go to the vanos.
I replaced with same size and style tubing from an electronics store. The key is to get the “high temp” version. Not much more expensive. But it’ll last longer as regular plastic wire split tubing will just get brittle and crack again in short time.
