I bought these from mcmaster.com and used spacers from my wheel bearing kit and some washers. It worked for my rtabs and also all the ball joints for removal and installation.

Bushing never moved. Other than oil on the thread and heat (which I don’t think most people use) I don’t know what else I could have done differently. I have removed bushes before and did not use a gun. I think the tool could be more robust.

FCP is sending me a refund. I’m trying to get in touch with the MIS folks but have not heard back yet. It won’t let me purchase from the website.

Any experience with the Schwaben tool?

Drill the rubber of RTAB with a hole saw and than cut aluminum sleeve with a swazall. I had to do this on a Z4M that spent his while life next to the sea…

You will be able to reinstall the new bushings with the RTAB tool, just clean the housings and put grease.

The tool I have for this came from Ebay years ago, I use it with the big Milwaukee gun and the rod holds up fine.

Stop messing around with those and get something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/33470507044...d48747c6d56d2c

There are a few similar kits.

Absolutely, four times now between two cars.

                But I did use https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5...SABEgLMqvD_BwE

That kit has since gone up in price.

I see. I assumed they were the same.

In that case, despite the heftier price, I recommend the BavAuto kit from Turner/ECS.

Looks like the original rod is cheap thread-all. Better tools come with a hardened threaded rod - Class 12.9 or Grade 8. Not cheap either.
