So they are referencing the weight loss to another one of their radiators, not the stock one. If you end up buying it, please measure the difference filled and unfilled.😃
But it seems it's out of stock and $1k for a radiator is definitely not cheap. I never really bothered looking for other radiators, most aftermarket units are larger and hence heavier. Since water temp is not an issue with our cars, I don't feel the need for more cooling. All it will do is make the thermostat open and close more often. Oil cooler is another topic 😉

Someone also recently bought the oil cooler and it didn't save any weight vs OE.

Looking to see if anyone has been running a C&R oil cooler. For context, I am not experiencing cooling issues. I’m looking to replace my OE cooler that has debris, bent fins and high mileage. My oil temps don’t exceed 250 on track. Bimmerworld claims it is more efficient than other coolers. I’m not looking for a csf

I have them on my car - been on there for six years (tracked several times a year), with no issues and they still look like new, However, I clean the threads on both the studs and nuts every time the wheels come off and only EVER use manual tools on them.

Total of 1kg of unsprung weight removed from the car.

Did you remove the charcoal canister on your car?

Have you done a video review of your car? It would be great to see and hear this car in action. This is fantastic!

I have not done a video review yet.

I did upload one lap on the Salzburgring on YouTube: https://youtu.be/kZYv1XJTMYc?si=1fLTg8CcdA1DcWqr

It was wet that day and first time tracking since all the weight reduction, so I wasn't pushing at all. It's a high speed track, so I get passed by all the FI cars running 700+bhp 😕

Btw, the sound level is not nearly captured on video. I reality the car is really loud inside.

It takes some getting used to. You'll be like, what was that noise? And that noise? And that other noise? Then you'll just become immune to that stuff. I finally installed a BW race exhaust and that took care of all the rattling and buzzing.

It does make things harder to diagnose that start as a noise - like a suspension clunk. You have to use your sense of touch and feel AND be more diligent about pre and post event tech inspections.

I wouldn't mind the bimmerworld race with that functional diffuser, unfortunately it's way too loud for road legal here in Germany...

I can still hear a clunk very well... unfortunately. Probably CV axles. Drivrshaft is very new, diff only around 3k km on it.

By the way, I went to the histocup race this weekend. Met my suspension guy. He mentioned we may have do redo the setup on my car, they had to send in the front wheel scales for rebuilding. They measured lighter than reality on another car they did later, figures that result was too good to be true. I'll post an update when I get it remeasured.

Since yours is a genuine csl, you may not want to go all out like I have. But here's some more suggestions what you can do an still keep it streetable:
                    - relocate the battery to the drug bin in front (saves two really thick copper wires, more weight than you would think) As a RHD car, we don't get the same space like the LHD cars, so both bins are full - ABS on RHS and fuse box on LHS

                    - change the stereo to a lightweight system. I can't comment as I decided against it and ditched it completely, but Obioban has done this. I have the same AVIN 4 that he used for the same reason

                    - remove all obsolete cables from the wiring loom. I don't think bmw made a different one just for the CSL, so there should be a lot of unconnected stuff from options you don't have CSL has this done as standard - is part of the weight loss program - probably not as extreme as what Ian did, but a few kg

                    - if you convert to rear coilovers, you can get lighter upper control arms there as well as in front. You will see I already have coilovers these from the photos , so will look into the upper control arms

                    - liteglas front windshield, polycarbonate rear and side windows (relatively easy to reverse) That is a too extreme for me LOL

                    - depending on your NVH tolerance, you can remove sound deadening (supposedly the CSL had less than regular, but there should stimmt be some) The CSL has no sound deadening at all, just carpets, although I'm not sure about behind the dash.

                    - ditch the smg actuation and shift manually (sorry, had to say it 😜) It's what makes the CSL a CSL - I actually like the SMG on track, it gives the car a raw feel .

Can you really confirm that there is not tar sound deadening on your CSL on the floor, trans tunnel etc? I thought that CSL had most of these tar plates and had removed only few for the weight loss from the factory.

I haven't pulled the carpet to check, but BMW state that all the sound deading was removed - there is definitely none at all under the rear bench for example.

We don't even have the underbonnet trim piece, which is just that felt panel.

As someone who has pulled a CSL apart entirely, there is none, 100% confirmed.

Small update, got my Liteglass windshield installed, so more weight savings. I went with the heatable version. Last weekend I took it on a first extended drive. It's takes some getting used looking through it, as the small.heating elements make me it... Weird. But after a while you don't notice it anymore.

Regardless, for most people I recommend getting the non-heated version. It's simply not worth paying the premium for the heating if you still have the factory blower.

Kent was the cost of the heating? And where did you source this from?

It was 150 more than the non-heated.

I only paid a fraction of the new price, since my previous windshield was damaged, insurance covered most of it.

I went through a shop that represents the parent company. But if you are stateside you would need to contact Liteglass directly.
