    Seat Compatibility

Does a (would a) 2022 M4 Comp Seat fit a 2005 E46 M3 with full power and heat? What is involved? I am looking for full functionality for my daily / track car. Thanks...

No. At least the brackets don't.

At the very least custom brackets. To get heat and power working would require wiring and resistors, if it even could be done. I'm assuming it can.

Some of us have AMX seats, they come with working heat, but not power. I do think there is a way to have power sliders with the Recaros, but it's a retrofit and AMX doesn't offer power AFAIK.

I vaguely recall reading about someone who tried to do something similar, can't remember the exact seat but out of a much newer BMW. The issue they had was that the newer seats run a module with a communications bus to them. I seem to recall that on initial power on the seats power worked for about 15 seconds and then went into sleep mode and it was non-trivial to send the wakeup commands. I don't think they ever got it working.

That was me in the F series seat install. I had to fab a mount since the newer generation cars have wider rails but still the same pattern front to back.

The wiring is simple in implementation. I just pass power to the module for a 10second burst of life then the seat goes back to sleep. To fully implement the seat like OEM you would need a CANBUS emulator which I never looked into. I still have full ability to move the seat with power and I don't have heat in my seat so I can't comment on that. I also don't use the mem function since I'm the only one that drives the car.
