just read this entire thread please. North American ECUs require 700 series chip "which is Brown", to have full cc functionality without any other additional programing. the regular black 898 will not work without more coding.

seems you don't read up.. superseded # does not mean the #700 that M3 needs in NA. 898 will not work

yeah lol please help us out ... need one. I see one on ebay in Lithuania but itll take about 2 months to get that from them. I know Air Canada flyes to Frankfurt everyday so airmail is possible. PM me if you can do that plsI need the 700 one

ECS has the clutch switch 700 listed on sale, but I just chatted with someone and its not Brown, its Black.

Last thing is programing... but everything went well.. had to order a pilot bearing from BMW (koyo) as all aftermarket bearings were not the actual proper size. I decided to go with the UPDATED LuK TOB, and im ok with that, there is a memo out in 2015 the front plate shifts for better surface contact on the plate..
overall, I feel confident and I'd do it again since im familiar now with all that needs to be done.

question regarding PIN 2 on the clutch switch, I have installed the ID sensor, do I have to splice this into something or just straight into pin 20 in DME?
this DME part has me a little confused... I take out the SMG modual all together and salomon relay.. do I need to move over a wire from there over to the main DME?

I guess that part I knew; but the gunk on the mating surface for the bracket in back is still going to be there and need to come off... that's a grinder/brush job no matter what, right?

Maybe this time I'll buy one of those oven mitt-looking dog bite training suits to protect me

For the coating under the tunnel I bought a small rotating wire brush attachment for my drill and cleaned it up. It flings crap everywhere but a wire brush cleans the metal up pretty quickly.

On the detent drilling side, I have a 23/32 drill bit which is .718 vs the 18mm which is .708 .... will this be ok?

Yup, as stated above, definitely a 3.25" hole saw. Fast, easy and clean.
