I've had an Eventuri since it came out with Evolve tune, definitely better noise than stock and a few extra HP and torque. Certainly smoother power delivery with Evolve tune. Nice thing is its easy to revert back to stock, especially in CA.

      Let's simplify.

Get karbonius or don't even bother.

This is due to the performance gain of course, but even more enjoyable is the intake sound it brings to car. Unfortunately, upgrading to the CSL airbox is both labor intensive and time-consuming; requiring a number of additional parts, wiring, and software. As such, it's a rather expensive modification. For those who are looking for a similar sound to the CSL carbon airbox but are less concerned about a performance gain, Karbonius has developed an OEM Style S54 carbon airbox. It is a simplified version of the CSL airbox and, apart from the louder intake sound (+12 dB compared to plastic OEM airbox), provides an awesome appearance and easy installation using standard intake elbow and MAF. No need to install any additional hardware or a remap. Regarding a power increase, Karbonius observed +4HP compared to the OEM airbox in a recent dyno test. Not significant enough of a gain with a 2% margin of error. Therefore, pending any additional testing, they claim no significant power increase, but no HP loss either. Get some of the carbon box sound without needing to tune or modify DME.
True, I forgot about that. I feel like that plus an Eventuri is about as good as you can get without doing the air box and tune. But is it worth it at such a close price point?

Thanks for all of your input guys, I really appreciate it.

I am either going all in with a complete Karbonius CSL replica set up or something simple like the Eventuri.

The cost is obviously a lot more going with the Karbonius, but you get what you pay for.

Whoa first time I’ve seen this. Anybody installed one of these or does Karbonius have any sound/video clips?

Hey guys and gals, Just bringing to your attention that a Z4 Forum member recently approached Karbonius to see if they were interested in producing a carbon fibre airbox version of the stock S54 plenum. In response, Karbonius mentioned that if they had interest of 20 or more orders they would consider developing one. The

I have this paired with an Eventuri. Is a nice setup, but as much as I defended in the beginning, is far from the CSL sound. It does improve from just an Eventuri, the tone is a bit deeper and has the CSL warble but tamed.

i have in fact gone back and forth between Eventuri and OE filter as the Eventuri overrides the notes from the carbon plenum. With the OE filter the noise it more similar to the CSL but much lower in volume.

at some point I even had a sound generator as my thinking was that the three combine would be the ultimate combo, and is nice, but the sound is more synthetic. If you search here I posted videos.

Wives should be so lucky as to have husbands that only tinker on old cars and not spending money on all sorts of other things.
