    Ruined oil pickup tube

In the middle of an engine rebuild. Upon assembly, I over tightened and ruined the thread in one of the nuts attached to the oil pick up tube. The screw doesnt really hold now, and I'm looking for alternatives to replacing the oil pickup tube (expensive).

Has anyone been in the same boat before? It's the middle one, if that helps.

Drill/tap to accept a bigger bolt?

Edit: or get a new one. They're not terribly expensive, even when new: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...e/11411406405/

I'd try and find a used one from an engine part out.

You could also have someone weld a nut on the back side.

If you're able to access the backside of that bolt with a tool, you could use a longer bolt and put a second nut on. To avoid it coming loose over time you could put a distorted-thread locknut there (don't use nylock as the plastic gets soft with heat)

Replace it. Used if possible, new if necessary

I have pretty much every internal part so if you decide on a used one, I have it. PM me if interested.
