And I am working on a lighyweight shock mounts alternative for our CSL bumper with aluminum rebar version. Total assembly will be lighter than the kevlar rebar option
I am definitely going to be contacting you about that CF cabin filter housings and rear carbon shelf. Both of those interest me. Just need to gather the funds, LOL.

Will the lightweight shock mounts alternative, work with the stock bumper? I am not a fan of the CSL front bumper.

Yeah, I know about that but cost for the carbon quarter panels do not make it feasible. I unfortunately do not have unlimited funds.

Additionally not a fan of CF quarters as carbon will shatter rather than deform and costs of repair should something happen.

Same as above, I unfortunately do not have unlimited fund to drop $11k for an aluminum block.

Honestly, if that aluminum block was closer to $5k, I would actually consider it.

Agreed, with this car I plan on using this mindset.

LOL, sure we will have develop a drone mode so the car could be driven but to defeat the fun factor of the car.

Would work with stock alu rebar. But the alu rebar itself is super heavy. Our CSL bumper has CF rebar integrated to bumper.

I also prefer the look of non CSL bumper, trunk, diffuser honestly cause look like a better evolution of the E36 but doing the CSL theme on my LSB to make it different vs my Estoril M3. But I am working also working on a wider front end (bumper and front fenders) that will look similar to this:

This will not be a full blown race car and will be driven on the street so it's walking a fine line between tolerating a combination of noise, rattles, and discomfort and weight savings. I have not pulled the stereo nor plan on it. I will want to listen to music while driving. Also windows and door locks are staying.

So, it will depend on the change. I am willing to sacrifice some but not everything.
That sounds weak...lol Making the car track only makes weight loss decisions easy but quite difficult for a street car especially if it can't be undone.

The carbon cabin filter housing would be a good weight loss opportunity. You could remove all of the rear speakers and use a nice neo mag midbass in the front doors which doesn't cost a lot and will cut some weight.

The one good thing about carbon panels - no door dings!

Sound deadnening is like 30lbs, I prefer to remove it and keep more interior parts instead

Complete audio with wiring harness can be removed and just get a Bluetooth speakers and put it on passanger seat for longer ride!

Door airbags can be removed and coded like CSL.

You can drill holes into trunk hinges, cut some sheet metal and drill holes into dash bar. On the lower steering wheel cover, you can drill plastic rivets and remove the foam and metal plate. Remove the foam from dash bar, remove some foam under floor carpet.

                  Can also use titanium hardware!

You don’t see this? Looks like at least 3 others have. Man I’ve had so much trouble attaching excel files on here for some reason.

                        Pros: 25 lbs lighter
                        cons: no 6th

people claim the 5 speed is more reliable, but I think that’s bogus-- 420g is a tank, and all the 5’s seem to develop 5th gear lean.

We also plan to do those parts in CF this year to save some weight. Super easy mold so not as complex as the CSL trunk...

What Ian said. I did it mostly for weight savings as I was competing heavily in Bimmer Challenge and Global Time Attack. All the lighter, faster guys had AC delete and ZF swaps. I've since gone back to 6 speed. The ZF felt like shit even with new detents, bushings, etc.

You can still get parts and rebuild services for the ZF 5 speed. No parts or services are available for the Getrag 420G. I had a 420G in my s54 powered 330Ci track car until I started getting grinding while shifting from 3rd to 4th. Once I found out parts were no longer available for the 420G I pulled it and put in a ZF with rebuilt detents. For a track car the ZF is more robust (IMO) and as mentioned, it is lighter. I don't have any 5th gear lean in my ZF but I am running an IRP shifter.

There is a ZF 6 speed that was installed in the ZHP variants. Considerably more expensive on the used market, but if you want to stay with a 6 speed this is the one to get.
