Avin Avant Carplay APK file?? Need assistance

Hey folks, I bought an Avin Avant unit from mpartsworldwide, and long story short, I factory reset the radio and now the carplay app is gone. Avin Customer support has not responded to me in over a week, all I get is their crappy AI assistant, which is useless. Does any have the APK file or know where I can somehow get access to it?

Long story: I was initially having an issue where the carplay would not connect, error on screen displayed "plug in dongle to radio", which it already was. When I hardlined my iphone into the other end of the dongle, it would only mirror my iphone on the radio, still no carplay. I figured maybe it was some jacked up settings from the previous owner, so I factory reset the radio, but now the carplay app is gone.....shot myself in the foot

Did you try support@avinusa.com? They always get back to me within a business day, they've actually been great to deal with over the years

I’m almost wondering if you are posing as an Avin employee.

I have emailed that exact email multiple times and all I get is a response from AI that just turns into a circular loop of troubleshooting that never helps. The AI just continuously gives me a dead link for the APK files. There is no phone number and I have not been able to get in touch with a human from in over a week.

Ok, so I found a thread on bimmerpost, amazing what happens when you use the search function. I have sucessfully downloaded multiple versions of the APK file.

I am still having an issue where the carplay does not connect at all, wondering if its possible that the dongle is plugged into the "wrong" port on the back of the radio. When I initially tried plugging my USB drive into the cable coming out of the back of the radio, it would not read the USB drive. I then used the SD card slot and it worked fine.

There are two different pin connector wiring harnesses that both have USB ports coming off of them, does it matter which one I use? I could be blind, but I didnt see and built in USB spot on the radio, so I'm assuming the USB wiring harness is what it is referring to

Well, that's one way to continue a conversation with someone who chimed in with a vastly different experience than you had with Avin: call them an employee. I'm sure you're frustrated with the situation, just don't take that frustration on those trying to chime in to see what you've tried already. Hope you figure it out.

I literally did the same thing, factory reset and wiped the apk lol.

OP not saying this is wrong or right but

you bought the radio secondhand and avins policy seems to be they only really support direct customers. Your best bet is sourcing the most current apk from the community

Yeah, unfortunately I’ve to realize that. I’ve been snooping on many forums and am seeing similar situations. Kinda sad, just shows they really dont stand behind the product. I got a new Bluetooth dongle, but still, my carplay wont work, even with the APK files I got. Chinese junk as far as I can see

Perhaps with the head unit out / connector accessible you could try something like a fresh install of the APK and then plug in the dongle? The whole chain of Android USB device management behavior + shitty autokit app is a mess, but once I got mine figured out it's been passable.

I've even tried plugging in the Iphone charger into the new dongle, still nothing. I've tried probably 7 different APK files, plugging the iphone directly into the radio, and nothing works. I think I'm just going to go with an adapter to use a Sony or a Pioneer radio, seems like those will be the only reliable options. I just wanted something that looked OEM, but clearly these chinese units cant be trusted, I dont even wanna take the chance on a Dynavin when a Pioneer is half the price.

You didn’t buy from them directly, so they have no incentive to support you.

They are tedious and time consuming to work with, but I can confirm that email address does work and a ticket gets created and tagged to your account and order # when you buy from them directly. There is even a support / ticket portal where you can monitor the status of your request.

If you’re still in the return window, return to Mparts and get your money back and buy a new one. These units can be a huge pain when they don’t work. I ended up needing a replacement unit for the first unit I bought. Huge hassle, but the head unit is awesome now that I have one that actually works.
