Can someone post the cost to purchase the mid pipes in non-cat and one with CATs. I assume CATS would be hi-flow units.
    Thank you in advance.

If i'm understanding correctly - aftermarket headers switch which bank goes to what exhaust pipe? i never realized that

And second clarification - this means they will still fit, but will not sound as intended?

Good distinction Raj. And, what would it sound like? Very interesting, good catch Bryson.

I'm of the opinion that there's still a better exhaust solution waiting to be developed, maybe this is it.

I've seen too many videos of S54 swapped e30/e36/etc that don't sound anything like the e46. It's almost as if you can't screw it up when the S54 is in a different chassis. I know these are all single exit cars, but I have a bit of a hard time believing that's it.

(1:50 mark has the best clip)

Are we sure the euro and us headers are different lengths?

just looking at these pics of both I’m having trouble visualizing that they mount up differently because to my eye they look the same? Maybe we can reach out to rogue to get their take

of course it is possible I am missing something here.

Almost certainly those swap cars do not have the h-pipe, so the unequal pulses would be ‘mixing’ through filters in the muffler. The unequal length is relevant specifically before the h-pipe to smooth the sound.

Look closely at photos of headers installed on the engine.

Is it u.s. versus euro or us/euro versus supersprint tubulare and all the other aftermarket copies?

I thought the only difference between us and euro were the cats.

It’s worth checking for each user, but it appears that US is specifically the odd duck that crosses over. Euro and aftermarket seem to all match each other.

Runner and post-merge lengths of aftermarket headers are likely to be different for aftermarket headers than for euro headers though, so really this should be considered specific to euro headers.

Ideally this is all solved before section 1. I’m sufficiently displeased with the market here that I’ve started developing my own equal length stepped header that will also have equal length tubes post merge, updates are in my build thread.

I'm not following. If you're suggesting that the unequal pulses are mixing and canceling out in the muffler of the swap cars, why wouldn't that same thing occur in our muffler?

They mix in our cars in the h-pipe, before the muffler. The theory being that the muffler muffles each pulse, so mixing in the muffler would not produce the same raspy effect because the acoustic energy has been reduced. That’s my hypothesis at least.

I understand what you're saying now.

I have one of the original CPI resonated rasp terminators, which I find to be pretty effective and would contradict your theory. However I did install the SS resonated x pipe at the same time, which might support your theory.

I don't know what the answer is, but I'd start at looking at the setup of swap cars.

Anyone thought of making section 2 equal length and moving the merge downstream? Similar to the active autowerke design on F8X.

Moving the merge from the stock location guts power.
