The Tyco ones look fake. Siemans look real.

    These look genuine - https://www.ebay.com/itm/17510278420...Bk9SR7yA6-uiZQ

IIRC, they should cost around $15-20 each.

Thanks for your feedback! I’m curious—what makes you think the Tyco relays are fake? I checked the stamp references and believe the blue-printed relays are the original ones Siemens used to make. The back side has the same cross/bumpy pattern as the Siemens relays.

The green-printed relays seem to be from a later batch, with slight variations compared to the blue-printed ones (the sub-numbers are different). While the back side lacks the cross/bumpy pattern, the posts look clean and match the legit check picture Riley shared.

I also reached out to the seller about their authenticity. He was adamant that they’re genuine, just from a different batch than the blue-printed ones.

Not trying to argue—just genuinely curious. What specifically makes the green-printed ones seem obviously fake? Did Tyco never produce relays with green printed text?

When I bought a set, the Tyco ones had blue print and the bottom had the hatch pattern. Based on that and the real v. fake picture above, those look fake. It is an old part and production could have changed. I'd try and find old new stock if possible. I'll see if I can find the listing. They shipped from TX, IIRC.

Edit: Scott's analysis of the fake relays - https://www.e46fanatics.com/threads/...elays.1161233/

          Here is a non-eBay source - https://www.germanaudiotech.com/prod...mw-vw-mercedes

It's a lot of work to solder/unsolder these relays.

ok and? If no one tries....we'll never know. I'm going to see if we have a spare GM5 at the shop and then if we do i can easily order them and try them out. Soldering should be possible in the shop or by a specialist for real cheap here.

I would do a simple verification and then test on the relay stand-alone: two relays in single packet.
                1. measure each coil, from p21 to p22, then p11 to p12, and each should have about 255 ohms
                2. with coils not energized, p24 to 25 is closed and 24 to 23 is opened; same for p15 to 14 and 13.
                3. apply 7v between p21 and p22, don't care polarity, then p24 to p23 should be closed, and p25 is opened.
                4. If you have a 15A load (a DC fan or whatever with such load current), then connect it to p24 and gnd, and p25 to power supply, and when coil energized with 7v the fan should run.

Reread the description at the bottom and they are supplying the 403 not the 303, which according to Scott, should not be used for the GM5 application. I remember that it was not easy to find a source for the genuine 303.

Good catch - they really buried that detail in the fine print on the listing 😄 Emailed them to cancel my order before it ships.

From Scott in the other thread to save everyone a click:

“V23084-C2002-A403 relays should NOT be used in general modules. These relays are sensitive coil (C2002) with less pull in strength and weaker spring to return to non-energized position. Not good for high vibration environments. The relay contact is designed for lamp loads (A403) which have a very high inrush current and no arcing during disconnect. A303 relays have contacts specially designed for motor loads with low inrush current and high arcing during disconnect. Only use V23084-C2001-A303”

My post about verification and test is for the C2001 coil version.

Slideways - German Audio Tech sent me 303! These look great from my review. Blue text, 2001, & 303 with the correct pattern on the back side. These are brand new and in really good shape. Very pleasantly surprised.

Awesome! Same style logo and everything like the ones I ordered a while ago.

Thanks for confirming, and sharing this listing. I’m relieved it ended up working out despite my oversight 😄
