Rod Bearing Replacement Cost (North East Ohio)

I've contacted them about subframe reinforcement and they said they're semi-familiar with it/have a guy on staff familiar with e46s. Have you heard of people using them for rod bearings before CrookedCommie ?

I should have elaborated - have a CCA buddy who recently had M Works do a S54 replacement. Not saying they can't do it, just that I wouldn't take my car there. For subframe reinforcement, I'd be concerned that cracks, welds, and sealing the area would not be done correctly. Maybe they've gotten better in the last year or two.

Unfortunately I don't have any good BMW specialty shop recommendations in Cincinnati. I do my own work on an E46M track car and E70 diesel truck. Turn in Concepts is my go-to for anything track related, but they aren't really a BMW specific shop. Dealer gets any recall issues, but they broke a windshield and are a hassle to work with. Elsen's in Loveland did some maintenance work on the E70 in a pinch, and I was very happy with them.

Makes sense and I appreciate the feedback. I'd love to be able to stay local in cbus. Just seems like everyone around here charges 2x-3x what even Grumpy Cat is getting quoted.

Can’t think of any bmw shops in Cincinnati? It might cost an arm and a leg but there is always EAG...

EAG is usually cost prohibitive. I don't even know that they have cars on the lot anymore.

Check out Koala Motorsport in Novelty, which isn't too far from you (44072). It's been 15 years since I lived in Ohio, but they had a good reputation back then. IIRC they started out as a BMW shop but looks like they do Porsche now as well.

Tom Hatem seemed ok but don't know much about him. Auto Assets is nice, but they didn't specialize in BMW's so YMMV.

Nice to see that there are so many people are chiming in. Just after I got my M3 I decided to try and visit all the local BMW "specialists". I took the 20 min drive out to Koala and when I got there, they were extremely condescending :P. Larchmere Imports wasn't much better. I'll reach out and see how much they'd want for the job. Maybe they've changed their tune since the last time I spoke with them.

Called Auto Assets today and ended up emailing the service writer everything I was looking to do and parts I would supply to see what everything may cost.

I called Tom Hatem three separate times asking for a quote and each time was told they'd call me back, which they never did. I had a bad experience with them when I first moved to Cbus with my 330ci at the time. Swore them off until reaching out now and it seems like I'll be staying away again for another 10 years. Shame too because they seem like a great shop and they're near-ish to me.

OK good to know. As I said, it's been 15 years since I lived there. Chip seemed mostly interested in Porsches at the time.

I know they’ve been working on COVID hours, they only do Monday/Wednesday/Friday. Maybe I got lucky getting through to them.
