Car is a 03.5 M3 if that makes any difference. I was cruising at 40mph then the car start to sputter and eventually die and I had to pull over. Got the car towed home and first checked fuse 54 for fuel pump, Fuse is good. Then I ran the diagnostic and got error 1 which shows fuel pump relay. So I swapped green relay #3 with #6 which was located behind the glove box. The two relays had the exact same part number and #6 I believe it was for the horn so I tried that. Still no crank. Can it be the crankshaft position sensor?

Sounds like a dead fuel pump. Can you hear it prime with the key in position 2?2002 Topasblau M3 - Coupe - 6MT - Karbonius CSL Airbox - MSS54HP Conversion - Kassel MAP - SSV1 - HJS - PCS Tune - Beisan - MK60 Swap - ZCP Rack - Nogaros - AutoSolutions - 996 Brembos - Slon - CMP - VinceBar - Koni - Eibach - BlueBus - Journal

Green's not the fuel pump on the M3, black is. Looks like this: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...hoCMcQQAvD_BwE
Not sure you can swap it interchangeably with any of the other relays -- I think not.

edit: I just checked again and there are no black relays behind the glove box area. Where else can it be?Last edited by NaM3; 06-02-2020, 12:08 AM.

I am verifying no power by using a power test pen and a multimeter.

Only reason I am so focus on the Fuel pump relay is my scanner gave me the error code of 1 which is for fuel pump relay.
