Did a complete coolant flush today.
Coolant was 10 years old but very few miles on it.
The threads about rust in the system and deposits had me really worried as my car got some tap water I must confess.
I filled it with 1:1 mix of BMW coolant and distilled water.
The coolant hoses were perfectly clean and the inside of the radiator looked perfect.
I did not take the water pump out as I would have to buy gaskets and all if I did. I'll leave it alone.

I have a 800 miles road trip planned in our local mountains with my wife over the weekend. That will be the car's first proper shakedown.

Here is a picture of my messy crib.
Old house but the ceiling height in the garage is awesome !!
I can work under the car standing up.

I think that European countries have very nice architecture. It's like "old world" vibes. I dunno, hard to describe.

Nice to see you got the M back up and running

Thanks man. Can't wait. I hope the car will be reliable
I have adjustable front stab end links that are gargabe. They came with the Eibach coilover kit, but they get loose and then rattle. I'll replace them with OE ones ASAP.
I hope they won't make trouble.

Day 0 is going to the start point on the freeway.

Day 1 a bit of France, then through Andorra, and then some miles in Spain

Day 2, a bit of Spain and then back to France and home.

          I'll post some pictures here

Yeah replace with OE and dont risk it. I cant wait to get my PSS10s later this year.

Would love if i could ship the car to Europe and do a road trip with some E46 M3 and ///M owners

Looks like an awesome route, I’ve driven and photographed a lot of the roads in the Swiss and Italian Alps but very little in France aside from the hills above Nice.

Hey, I am in similar situation. I have an M3 that has been parked and not moved nor started in over 10 years.

Other than replace all fluids and gas, are there any other tips that you could provide? Any other issues that you ran into?

                  Hey man !

Here is what I have done / would do :
                  - Remove the fuse of the fuel pump + remove fuel pressure
                  - Remove spark plugs
                  - Mist some WD40 in each cylinder and use compressed air to atomize it in the entire cylinder
                  - Rotate the engine a couple of times by hand from the front (by removing the fan)
                  - Build oil pressure without the plugs / only with the starter motor, have it turn over for some time like that
                  - Replace fuel entirely
                  - Spark plugs back in
                  - Start the engine and have it warm up
                  - Once warm, stop the engine and replace the oil

Good luck, get it back running, this car is too good to not be used

PS : that depends of how the car was stored ? Was it inside or outside in the elements ?

Out with the new, in with the old.
Never I'll buy this type of end links again. They were with the coil over set but that is some clunky rubbish. There is no way it doesn't loosen up after 3 lock to lock manœuvres.

Did you torque them to 48 ft/lbs? Endlinks will clunk if not fully torqued.

Yes they were torqued down properly.
The issue is those 4 nuts getting loose. I really tightened them while holding the main shaft with another wrench, tried loctite, but they always get loose. I am certain there is a way to install them properly but the risk of having them come loose 500 miles from home is not worth it to me.

Ah. These Turner endlinks have not had that issue if you are still looking for an adjustable endlink (only need one) that allows you to dial out preload on the front bar - https://www.ecstuning.com/b-turner-m...104~dk/?pdk=Ag

Those do look a lot better indeed, but I'll stay with the OE ones as they fit my needs / wants for the car

The M3 is so back !! God I love that car.
                                All perfect up to now.
Went through Andorra already and now in Spain. Beautiful roads and weather.
