    Charcoal Canister Delete

I've been hunting down an issue with my car, I deleted the charcoal canister. When I deleted it, I put a rubber cap on the valve that goes to the intake manifold. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=13_0912

On this link from Real OEM, I put a rubber cap on Part #1 in the diagram. Could this be throwing a cel? EML light? Thanks

You removed the entire canister? And did what with the rest of the lines? Short answer, quite likely, yes. What was the original problem you had that led you to believe deleting the canister would possibly resolve? If you can provide more details you might get more helpful response.

How do you vent the tank now the canister is removed??

Flame suit on, it was removed for weight reduction. I'm curious, if I can just delete that entire system and cap the manifold instead of that small pump. The issues I'm having, I do not believe are related to deleting the canister.

It's going to throw evap codes, but if you capped the manifold, it won't affect the engine operation.

Any way to code it out? I'm pretty familiar with these cars, and the coding. I'm going to remove the pump, and cap the pipe off the manifold anyway. If I can get it coded out, I'll just remove those wires from the harness, depin it from the ecu etc.

This. I had an evap venting problem a while back that would result in splash back during filing and I replaced the entire canister assembly and no more problems. I don't think I'd look at the evap canister as something to eliminate in the name of weight savings; it's pretty light.

I would agree with you, for almost all people. However, I don't drive a M3. I drive a e46 s54 sedan, that is 100% gutted. I didn't recently delete the canister. I was trying to run down an issue from putting my engine into a different chassis. Since the REswap the car has been having issues. Lost interest for a long time, until now.

Depends how far down the weight loss rabbit hole you have gone.
