Close up on the GTR - RACP brace?

I shared the video in the press/media thread but also wanted to know if I’m late to the party lol…looks like BMW created their own brace for the GTR. Any info on this?

Probably not a ton, but there are a few braces in the aftermarket that essentially look like and do the same thing - tie the two rear subframe mounts to the shock towers. This brace probably would prevent complete failure and the RACP from tearing at the left rear subframe mount, but it would not help with cracking on the front right mount as the subframe bushing is still hammering the spot welds on that front right mount.

Ideally, you want to tie the RACP and all four subframe mounts to a cage or to the frame rails like the Vincebar and CMP kits do.

Definitely have seen the aftermarket options…I guess I’m more surprised they would do this to their own “street” car. Just saw it more as an aftermarket thing I guess

First thing that made me raise my eyebrows when watching the video earlier. They knew.

I'm sure they did know by that point. They were only a year or so out from closing the engineering change order window on the E90 platform, which as we know features a significantly strengthened RACP.

That said the GTR has 100hp more, so of course the DT would benefit from some strengthening, plus the GTR strassenversion was for a very specific purpose and the people who would actually buy it were probably quite keen on the additional “race car” feature.

I’m just surprised they added it to a car that has the lowest risk of RACP cracking, given that it literally just sits hidden in some secret BMW garage.

I think the brace is more of a suspension device than a prevent your car from falling apart device.

Let's not start a conspiracy theory here.

Can you tell if it’s bolt in / removable or welded into the car?
