My emblem (as I'm sure many) has bubbled up. I found the part number (11617831266), it seems to have the adhesive inherent, so all good on the install side. But any tips on removal? I'm sure I could manage with some adhesive remover, plastic trim tool, and floss. But for such a focal point of the engine, a scuff or scratch would be tragic, seeking experience.

Flat head or plastic interior panel removal tool. Doesn't matter if you slightly damage the plastic underneath (you shouldn't if you excerise decent caution) - the new adhesive will deform and match the surface.
Dental floss for the emblem on the trunk imo. The engine beauty cover emblem is recessed, so I don't think you'd have an easy time trying floss under there, plus I don't think the floss won't glide on the rougher plastic like it would on a painted surface.DD: /// 2011.5 Jerez/bamboo E90 M3 · DCT · Slicktop · Instagram

Helps if your engine is somewhat hot - easier to peel off.BMW / E46M Interior & Trim Restoration.

Thanks folks
Edit: as a word of feedback for those curious about doing this the first time, the tip to do when engine was hot was ace. Floss wouldn't work well because of the recess so got it started with a plastic trim tool then it just peeled up in one piece with little to no force cleanly.Last edited by sasha; 10-15-2025, 05:46 AM.
