Hello everyone, my first post on here. I’ve always been on here as a guest but I finally decided to just make an account. I was wondering what the best option for the rear shock mounts would be. I currently have bilstein pss10. Thank you all!

Best... how?Originally posted by efrtysx View PostI was wondering what the best option for the rear shock mounts would be
Are you talking spherical or rubber?
What's your use case?
I run Millway
Upper Shock Absorber mount in aluminum with bearings for the shock absorber upper mounting point. Original rubber mounting point flexes a lot and will break sooner or later. With our mount with bearings, it will be completely flex-free, and allows the shock absorber working as intended. It also removes accents on the s

Unless you don't feel like pulling back the trunk carpet to remove the rear damper in the future, factory Lemforder mounts are fine and a third of the price of aftermarket RSMs. I've never seen an E46 rear shock tower failure to justify the reinforcement aftermarket RSMs include. It feels like that was an issue on the E36 which the aftermarket carried over to the E46 just because.Last edited by Slideways; 11-10-2025, 06:33 PM.

I've used Ground Control RSMs, nice thing about them, the nuts attach from the wheel well side, so if you plan on changing shocks again, its a little easier.Originally posted by efrtysx View PostHello everyone, my first post on here. I had Rogue spherical mounts and they added a horrendous amount of clunking. Swapped them out for some used stock mounts a friend had, solved the problem. I think you should just run stock mounts if you’re not going on track. Can’t say if there’s a poly solution that gives a benefit of reduced movement without adding a shit load of noise.

This is interesting, I added RE rear shock mounts to get rid of the clunk introduced after upgrading my suspension to Ohlins R&T and they have done a great job at keeping it quiet.Originally posted by Nate047 View PostI had Rogue spherical mounts and they added a horrendous amount of clunking. Maybe the Ohlins are just a more forgiving rear shock. Guess everyone's mileage may vary on these.Last edited by dustyice; 04-07-2026, 11:47 PM.'02 M3 Oxford Green/Cinnamon 6MT

Spherical or poly? Mine were spherical, maybe a bad batch. The hole for the shaft was too loose (heh) by a tiny amount, which amplified to an insane amount of noise in the car.Originally posted by dustyice View Post
