Quiet Lightweight Flywheel?

I think it's the changing speed/motion of the crank and not the shock that rattles the transmission. Kind of like turning the input shaft back and forth with your hand and feeling the lash. The damper would absorb the resulting shock that goes through the crank but not change the actual motion. The damper that interferes between the crank and the trans is the 900lb dual mass flywheel we're trying to get rid of.Originally posted by jvit27 View Post
Not sure if adding a heavier Ross/ATI damper could offset this?

Ah makes sense. I've actually handled the shaft and felt that.. LOLOriginally posted by 1000hp View Post

I was thinking back to s52 days when ltw flywheels would eventually rattle the rotating assembly apart due to the imbalance/lack of damping. But I guess the upgraded crank dampers target actual engine harmonics more than our trivial nonsense.

This engine might also rattle apart with a light flywheel and stock dampener 🤔 But then again my S52 is still alive with one after many years and miles with 400whp (and it wasn't too noisy).Originally posted by jvit27 View Post

I think a good dampener is a good idea but it isn't gonna stop this engine from making noise.
