Drifters have gone through this with all their angle stuff. Typically modifying the knuckle and using the most stock components is ideal, and will not leave you with something breaking.
As most things with cars, the stock stuff was tested in every condition and they could not break unless it was in an accident for liability reasons and reputations. There's a lot more to this like fatigue cycles, impact loading, and where the forces go. Not to mention metallurgy, it is a pretty complex thing to engineer
