    Rendition E46 Carplay Navigation Unit

Has Anyone tried this especially on vehicles with NAV and HK? Any feedback and install tips would be welcome. Also I am sure i'll require the wiring harness for my car

Upgrade your BMW E46 Radio with an Android head unit. Choose 8.8" OEM-style with amber lighting and physical controls or 10.3" 2K borderless full-screen.

what i really liked about it is how fast it is to respond.

Looks like the same unit as XTRONS, but more expensive and with 3D printed knobs? What's making you want this one, specifically?

I was considering this one actually. The wide screen is what was appealing to me. But ultimately, I just decided to go with the AVIN 4 b/c of its OE appearance. Had one on my E53. It had quirks, but 90% of the time it worked as it should and all I really want/used it for is CarPlay. And I bought it back in 2019. So I can imagine the current ones being a bit better. Wish I could give you more insight!

Thanks for your feedback, brother. I appreciate it. I don't mind the look of it as long as it performs fast and CarPlay works perfectly I'll be good.

Lol I think you're right - that's exactly what it is. Looks like they've also taken a leaf out of my book and installed iDrive Launcher (https://idrive.ibus-app.de/index_en.html) as the launcher for the unit.

You can see in some of their photos and videos that the unit has/had the standard xtrons knobs.

Same over chassis build and screen as xtrons wide screen. I have also heard you have to pay import duties on rendition stuff as it's imported direct from the factory.

I saw the same post and bit the bullet. I’ve gone back and forth on a solution for yrs and was all but ready to ship my stuff to the UK/carphonics but thought it was worth a flyer. it was under 350 USD shipped up until recently (they preannounced increased pricing starting in Apr as I recall)

                - yes, the 3D printed buttons was a sell for me Obioban and I’ll accept your judgement. I kinda can’t stand the chrome ring’d ones on the standard xtrons I’ve seen over the yrs and it’s nice to just get something out of box that looks (sort of) right.

                - This whole matter is plagued by the fact that I’ve sat on my hands for yrs trying to pick a solution and am annoyed by it atp, and recent circumstances (I lost audio) forced my hand to address it right now

                - not sure if regular old xtrons has the feature but I like how the illumination/colors can be adjusted to close-to/oe orange

                - it’s (allegedly) a light(er?) weight platform without superfluous apps/junk allowing for a smooth fast experience as 0-60motorsports pointed out.

                - lastly they appear to be real bmw enthusiasts and seem thoughtful in their approach

We shall see, finalizing install prep now.

Yep the xtrons does - it actually lets you specify exact RGB so you can get it just right.

Probably in the States but free shipping via FEDEX to Bahrain and Import tax makes this seem very tempting.

Got it I missed that. tbh your build thread was at least in part why I finally just settled on this one, as your xtrons install looked good enough. Loved how you created the main bmw boot up image. you’re a maniac. (in the best way)

0-60motorsports yes my friend, I do have nav. Will lyk
how it goes. I think I have what I need to finish install but I gotta admit it’s kind of confusing to ensure I have all the right extensions/cables for my setup. Bought EXL007 from xtrons and my car has HK (S674)

I have it in my M3. Great and very responsive. No glitches or weird connection problems. Only set back wasn’t with the headunit it self but the shipping tax and duties. So expect to pay FedEx an additional 100 bucks. Also you will need an additional wire harness from Amazon if you have OEM Navigation.
