    Data logging for diagnosis

    Hello,

    I've two DME codes (reported with INPA): 145, and 175, both ocurring at idle. They appeared after I did rod bearings and installed catless headers. These are related to bank 2 o2 sensor causing the dme to enrich the mixture up to the maximum factor it's allowed, which then causes the DTC.

    I went to INPA to check the DME analog values but these are values that vary quickly and it's hard if not impossible to tell what's happening without a higher sampling rate and a proper timeseries graph, so what's the tooling we use? I saw BMWLogger is sold for 50 but it looks dated. Is it good? Is it still maintained?

    Any tool that logs using the OBD2 cable is limited by the available data rate over DS2. If you want a free and performant way of logging then check out https://nam3forum.com/forums/forum/m...sh-counter-etc. capture the logs as .csv and then load into MegaLogViewer to view and manipulate the data.

    Otherwise if you're serious about logging then CAN-logging is the way to go - that will get you 100Hz data without breaking a sweat.

      I don't need 100Hz but I think INPA is something like 1Hz (judging by the blinking dots which I presume mean data is updating). I will look into these, thanks

          Sorry for the noob question but in Live Values when I select some items in the right pane, many other get selected. For example if i select relative filling (rf), I also get tank ventilation valve pulse time (tetv), lambda controller factor 1 (la_f_regler) and a bunch of others. Deselecting one deselects them all. Expected?

          Also, I did some logging, and there was a logging gap. The RPM/throttle/torque/load group (n40, wdk1, ml, gang, etc.) came back completely zero for all 585 samples, the entire session. Everything else logged fine, so this looks like that one measurement group either wasn't requested correctly or something like that.

          Quick "feature suggestion": having the file size displayed somewhere to get a sense of how large the csv file is becomming would be neat. I though it was getting large, but it was actually just a few kb; I could have kept going.

            Dammit I thought I'd fixed that bug. No, this isn't expected and is an issue, thanks for letting me know, I'll try to reproduce and get it sorted.

            Re the logging gap, that's interesting, I wonder if there's a difference in that group on your DME version I haven't taken into account. what version does it report as in the DME Info screen?

            Great feature suggestion, I'll will add that in - should be easy!

              It's late and I won't go to the car now to check with your tool, but from my dumped DME parameters and ECUWorx's Bin modification tool that DME is 211322002801-JD79 (so 2801).
              It's an MSS54 (non-hp).
