I’m sitting here embarrassing thinking as to why I wanted a loud s54, I have came to the realization that I need to keep my oem exhaust on or possibly get the scorpion or ac schnitzer, I have Megan racing headers and I did the dual oem section 1 resonators and top speed exhaust and it sounds a lot better but I just can’t stand the sound it’s too loud, I should have listened to you ogs to begin with, I’m getting some induction noise and the ac schnitzer exhaust and it should be smooth sailing from there

Pretty much this.Originally posted by Sharocks View PostThis car sounds bad.

OP: I have a friend removing his full SS race setup to go back to stock for similar reasons. You are not alone.
My setup is: CSL headers -> euro section 1 -> SS resonated section 2 -> OE muffler. Can’t hear it. Rasp goes away once Section 2 is warm. That is all.

Euro headers > Sunbean catted sec 1 > SS Resonated sec 2 > SS Sport sec 3 = music to my hears. Took me 5 years to finally not HATE the sound of the S54. Unlike other, I hate the rasp. I can't disassociate the sound from a riced out-civic; I just can't.
Thei setup sounds so good "to me" that I got rid of the Karbonius airbox because I didn’t want competing sounds from the exhaust and airbox. Not to suggest the box was loud enough to complete, because it’s actually underwhelming, but nonetheless, it delivers a great sound on its own.
The addition of the Sunbeam brought the entire exhaust system to life.
It’s all subjective, but the one fact for me is that I finally love the sound of the car now.

Based on all of the M3's I've driven with various exhaust and intake combinations, my favorite setup is a 100% stock exhaust with a carbon airbox. The stock exhaust lets you hear just enough to be engaged, but it's not overwhelming or drawing unnecessary attention. The intake noise is really where the S54 shines.
