Quick shot, I'll get one outside soon.
bumping this back up as my rings AEs aren't working. Do you think the AE Guy units are too bright at night? They're looking like an attractive option vs the v2s or v4s.

Those housings are not available separately through BMW.
No, but you can get bosch replacement projectors or morimoto's or retrofit any 1 of 10 projectors that are better than the oem ones. They are probably trashed at this point anyway. You can also get replacement surrounds if yours get damaged. The retrofit source has everything you need.
That said, a high quality kit, properly installed looks good imo. Tacky is an led strip "brow" in the housing or any one of a million econocars on the market trying to look upscale with led strips.

My V4's were too bright for my tastes at night so I wired in the optional auto-dim wire so when the headlights are turned on the AE's dim a bit, or enough to where they aren't blinding to look at head on anymore, which is nice.

Did you have to do any coding for those or was it a simple plug and play? thinking about purchasing them

I had Orion V3's for a few years. They looked great and were quite bright during the day! I removed them and have gone back to the stock look (albeit I've swapped the inner plastic housing for the silvery/gold ones from a 330Ci).

Only situation you would need to code something in is if your car has the US DRLs enabled (where the high beams are partially lit whenever the headlights are off) and you want to turn that function off and use the angel eyes as DRLs.

+1 for Angel Eye guy, quick shipping easy plug and play and no problems so far. I went with the "standard 120." my preference is a bright AE in the daylight (always sunny here in AZ) and wired to the passenger footwell lamp so it goes on when you unlock and fades away when you lock. i actually haven't noticed if it dims when headlights are on, i will have to check that but i dont think it does...

Have never heard of anything that do that, would be nice feature. Some can be manually dimmed.

According to BMW the amber spectrum is more visibly noticed by the human eye in daytime light than a white spectrum.
