Did you have to do anything else for sound besides plugging in the 40 pin fakta harness in the trunk? My understanding is that power and audio are plug and play with the one 40 pin. Thanks... hope you get this.

Looking into finally getting one of these but wanted to confirm some things... for those of you that got the DSP option for the Avant 4, how of an improvement were the stock hk speakers after tweaking the audio profiles with the new headunit? A large part of the stock speakers sounding like crap is the oem headunit being underpowered so I know the Avant should be an upgrade right away, but the DSP integration really requires a DSP amp like what the E39 comes with from the factory, so I am curious how much I can really take advantage of tuning the speakers with the Avin?
Also, another big one for me is oil temp via iBus. Can anyone confirm if it displays on the iBus for the M3? For non-m it does not since the cluster doesnt support the oil temp input, but for MSS54/hp, the M3 cluster is already pulling oil and water temp inputs from the DME so I am trying to determine if the eKombi module below is even needed on the M3 since the functionality should already be there?

Hoping it works. Re-purposing HK sub enclosure with CDT audio 6x9 on Soundstream St2.500d amp.

I’ve never used an Avin, but my Dynavin N7 was a big upgrade from my 10 year old Dynavin, and the new one has EQ, car play, etc. out of the box. Similarly, my new MacBook is a big upgrade from my 10 year old MacBook Pro, my new iPad is a big upgrade from my old iPad, etc. etc. You see where I’m going here — 10 years is 2 or 3 lifetimes in electronics. My new Alpine head unit is a big upgrade from the 10 year old one it replaced (which stopped working).
I’ll certainly vouch for Dynavin USA support. If you’re on the fence between these two, the best thing I can say is pick up the phone and talk to Jeff Bechtel at DynavinUSA. (https://www.jandtdistributing.com/). At worst, it’ll take away any questions around service. I’m just happy to see them both selling tons of units, so they can feed the upgrade budget.
I still say the weak spot in these cars is the speakers, so BavSound or something else is almost mandatory.

I’m not sure about that. People post positives too, just like you just did.

Yeah, it has all that… https://www.jandtdistributing.com/co...40263794426006 … and sounds good… but I’ve had it less than a year so I can’t comment on long term ownership.
