RE-71R is a "200 TW" DOT R-compound. Stiff sidewalls too, great for autox and the first couple sessions on the track but it'd be hard to DD it IMO.

    RE71r

    notable characteristics

    - insane grip even for a 200TW tire (although the Advan A052 appears to be top of the heap now)
    - great steering feel
    - loud, oh god so loud
    - makes not so subtle and very unpleasant tones and hisses over different pavement types/lane markings

PS4S since they are best all around tire but the side walls are soft and it gets greasy when run hard in the summer.

On my second set of conti ECS, previous was conti extreme contact DW and hankook v12. I felt all the differences with those tires. I'll probably fork out the extra $200 for a set ps4s for the firmer sidewall, but with higher tire pressure around 38psi in the rear and 36psi in the front, the conti ecs is not bad for car mainly driven on the street.

My M3 came with Hankook Ventus , then I bought Firestone Indy much better tires, great in dry condition but not perfect in wet condition. Right now I have pilot sport 4s , so far the best even during rain . I recommended pilot sport 4s . For budget tires I will go with Firestone Indy or Falken Azenis.

One more for PS4S. Generally, wish I had gotten into the Michelin brand sooner; fantastic tires, both these, and others.

Conti DWS 06... SoFL... Rain handling necessary and excellent. I also wear all seasons just so I'm not limited on where I can take the car and when. If I want to do Christmas in the Carolinas, I can't have my tires holding me back.

That's good to know, thanks for your feedback. I ran the ECS as a dual-duty street/autox tire but recently got a set of RS4s for the track, so I'm alright with a bit lower grip on the street since the Indy 500s are a great price

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ on one set of wheels, Federal 595 RSRR on another and about to try out the General GMax RS tires since they're supposed to be even better than the Indy 500's which are great as well.
